I begin with a quirky title, one that keeps me going through the industrial hands-on process that is woodcut printmaking. I hand carve my image into a wooden plate, roll it with ink, then run it through a glorified mangle. I’ll then add colour, glitter, gold leaf, or give in to a ridiculously bright shade of pink. My comical themes are intended to make the viewer smile – I enjoy trying to achieve this.
My Fine Art Woodcut Prints are run through a heavy duty Bewick press which embosses the paper beautifully. I use oil based intaglio etching inks and Somerset 100% cotton, acid free 300gsm paper. I usually limit my editions to around 10 or 12. Every print is original, unique and hand finished.
